NEC Holds the 2nd Election Advisory Committee Meeting to Evaluate the 7th Nationwide Simultaneous Local Elections |

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea held the 2nd Election Advisory Committee Meeting to evaluate the 7th Nationwide Simultaneous Local Elections on July 9, 2018.
The Election Advisory Committee is a group formed to ensure fair election management and the advancement of the Korean electoral system and is comprised of experts from various fields including the media, academia, the legal profession, public relations experts, and civic groups.
The meeting, chaired by NEC Chairperson Kwon Soon-il, was held in order to explain the 7th National Election Commission and discuss major pending issues.
At the meeting, the following major issues were discussed:
• A focus on post-election management, including an overall review of the early voting system, holding an accurate investigation into election expenses, and making efforts to improve various systems starting with how boundaries are delimitated
• Presentations of various opinions on the role of the NEC and the direction of future development that need to be reviewed from a mid to long-term perspective, starting with key policies regarding election management
The NEC said it will actively reflect the opinions put forward during this meeting in the management of elections and will continue to do its best to ensure it remains a trusted organization and meet the people`s expectations.
